Generative AI is quickly becoming a big part of today's businesses. Many tech experts have a hopeful view of it. But what can it really do and how are top businesses using it?
According to a 2023 study, many people are worried about how safe and fair generative AI is. A big 81% of people want a real person to check and make sure AI's work is okay. Moreover, only 37% of users really trust what AI comes up with. And as more people use AI, this trust issue grows bigger.
Still, companies are using generative AI more and more to work better and connect with customers. This change brings up a key idea: We need to make AI less mysterious. If we can make AI clear and open for everyone to see, it can change how we use it.
A big report by Salesforce showed that 9 out of 10 top tech leaders think generative AI is now a normal thing. This matches what McKinsey thinks – that generative AI can add between $2.6 trillion to $4.4 trillion every year in many areas. It's clear - AI is changing how we work.
Looking at what big companies like Gartner say, we find some big ideas for the future:
- By 2024, 40% of business programs will use chat-based AI.
- By 2025, 30% of businesses will use AI to help make decisions.
- By 2026, AI will do 60% of the work for new websites and phone apps.
IDC talks about how important it is to use AI in a good way and how we need strong plans for using AI. Also, with AI being used in things like making codes and helping businesses, IDC says we should focus on using AI in the right way. This means clear rules and lots of training
Forrester's study talks about how generative AI helps make software. They think that by 2023, generative AI will be one of the top 10 new tech things.
Ventana Research looks at how generative AI helps sales and ads. They believe that by 2025, one in four sales groups will use generative AI to work better and talk to customers.
I'm getting ready to go to the big Salesforce Dreamforce event from September 12-14. I'll learn more about these ideas and trends from the best tech experts. I'll share more news about how generative AI is changing work and business soon.
In the end, generative AI is not just a new trend but a key part of the future for businesses. As Gartner says, by 2025, software leaders will play a big role in watching over generative AI. It's up to business leaders to make sure we use it in a good and fair way. After all, AI is like the power of today, and companies that don't use it might fall behind.
